How many watches do you need? I have one dressy one and one sport, and no one sees either as I wear french cuffed shirts (go ahead, call me a fucking nancy boy). If I wasn't in dire need of the date, which I constantly forget, I'd probably have no reason to wear a watch at all.

Funniest thing is the automatic that is supposed to be such a mechanical materpiece runs fast and the dressy one with the quarts movement has been almost perfect.

Yes. I married one. She's not fat. Ditto any number of other women I've had big, multi-course, expensive meals with.

For a variety of reasons, sometimes including things like exercise and balancing a generally healthy diet with the occasional splurge.



On special occasions, I try to go places where you don't pay for food by its weight. Chateau Lafite does not have more calories than Thunderbird. And I make it a nice, long, relaxed meal with lots of conversation -- I can see why that option doesn't work for you.

Speaking of "nice bottle of wine" I had a 2001 Caymus cab last night, and it was excellent. Since we went through two bottles, and three glasses of champagne, I'm guessing that the bill approached the $400-450 range, but there were four of us.

Well neither a $500 dinner nor a $15k watch is as stupid as that rock you buy when you get engaged. A watch at least does something and dinner is generally enjoyable (unless its French cuisine, which is overpriced shit... call me a rube all you like, but French food is just fatty crap no other restaurant knows how to prepare and a bunch of desserts so rich you'd never eat them were you not at a "special French restuarant"), but a diamond does NOTHING. I love that the wife digs it, and that her friends think I have a good eye for picking stones, and I like the idea thatits a phycial manifestation of our marriage, but I think all those things could be accomplished much much more cheaply.
