Why do I still work here? Oh, right, the market sucks.

Anyway, thanks everyone for the kind words. It makes it a little less disheartening to have to go to the office three days after.

That blows.

OTOH, with a 20-month old and a newborn at home, you need any excuse you can get to avoid shit-packed diapers for awhile.

I've read baby powder as well. I'll try it. I have some at home that we'll never use.

I think you're right about making them learn to sleep through the noises. At least the 20-month old. I am intentionally noisy around the newborn to try to make it a non-issue.

If you're talking about the ground floor and you have an unfinished basement, you can wait until it gets cold and dry in midwinter (when you'll have maximum plank shrinkage/separation), and tap shims into the cracks from beneath with a ball peen hammer. Not difficult and doesn't qualify as "carpentry." But baby powder is the only realistic option for upper floors.

How's your 10K split these days? With two I sense some softness.....opportunity.....

Did you ever sauna with that guy? Madge Albright? That's the real test of postable friendship.

It's true.

Now that there are two, does anyone have any ideas on how to quiet down old creaky hardwood floors (without doing any carpentry work)?

Congratulations!

Maybe throw a carpet over them? Surely there's some Oriental Rug place going out of business near you.

No, but I did rub against her in the stairs. Does that count?

Congrats! I didn't know you guys were so close. I thought you had a few months still. Good luck with the no sleep thing.

On that other thing, just add a .3 to everything you do for 3 weeks. The Gods absolve you. It's all nonsense anyway.

I would have been strangely turned on by this:
Quote:

tap shims into the cracks from beneath with a ball peen hammer
had it not been preceded by this:
Quote:

it gets cold and dry in midwinter (when you'll have maximum plank shrinkage/separation)
and followed by this:

Its a start. If Adder could get that far with the paralegal, at this point we could claim "mission accomplished" and conclude the matter.

I love that one of the Google ads that popped up with the story was for a free interracial dating service.

I'd be ok with him winning, but I'd be happy with any of the top four chefs this season winning (and the top four are undoubtedly the Volt brothers, Jen and Kevin).

I've also eaten at Zaytinya, Mike Isabella's restaurant a few times. It was really good when it first opened but has gone downhill a lot lately. Also, I sat beside him at Minibar a couple of years ago (Minibar is a 6 seat mini-restaurant within a restaurant in DC and is owned by Jose Andres, who also owns Zaytinya and Bazaar, where Michael Volt works) and he struck me as a cocky jack ass at the time, so I guess he's the same IRL as he is on television too.

Zaytinya has gone downhill? Fuck.
