I don't think the assumption should be that she knew everything. I just assumed she knew more than you.

Either way, I don't think it should take a black person to point out a misconception about black people. I get just as pissed when people make mistakes about people of any race. This is one of the reasons why attitudes don't change as fast as they should. The "If you ain't insulting me, it ain't my problem" attitude should have been buried long ago. That attitude combined with knee-jerk "don't be so PC" responses to any type of criticism relating to race is the most frustrating thing to address in otherwise intelligent people today.

Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I ask you: Wasn't this my point? If we could all just be required to keep our clothes, we could continue to enjoy TITS just as much as we do now. Thank you, and good night.

See that's the problem with the all topless all the time deal. Most men picture it in their mind as all Sports Illustrated swimsuit models topless all the time. In reality, the people who want to go topless are the people you don't really want to see. The people you really want to see get to charge you for looking. They're called strippers. See, it's an economy thing. If everyone was topless all the time, what would strippers do?

On the other hand, hot men topless is what soap operas are for.

Coltrane, I know the point you think you were making: Even is so ridiculous with her supposed knowledge of black people.

But I also know what you are actually saying.

I was raised in the South. Now, living in the South means living with people who are very upfront about their racism. I have been asked not to invite my black friends to escort me to parties -- the actual quote was "could you find someone more appropriate to bring? Mother is uncomfortable around black people."

I have had "important" people tell me that i would never make partner or become socially involved in my community because i date a black man.

It's different up north where can you have a winking understanding of not wanting those people in your club. Down here, you either have them in your club or you don't. I am proud to say that they are in my club.

Speaking of nude beaches, I have to do a wedding in Miami near the holidays. I asked a buddy from Fla if its true that hot chicks sunbathe nude between 1st and 15th street (I recall being there there two eyars ago and not seeing any naked hotties). He said they're topless, not nude, and that yes, between the 8 mil flaming gay dudes, you will see many hot topless girls between 1 and 15 street. He claims that if you want to see hot naked chiks there's abeach called Haulover near Mimai packed with totally nude hot foreign chicks. I ran this past a friend who does a lot of sales work in Miami and his advice was "Don't go near Haulover to spy eye candy... its full of old fatties." So my general question would be, are Haulover and South Beach good places to go to see naked eye candy?

Hey look! Smartasses are everywhere

Russell must have taken the quiz yesterday...

Sept. 17 — Looks like Mel Gibson’s new film won’t be getting a rave review from Russell Crowe. Crowe, appearing on a Chicago radio station, was asked what he thought about “The Passion,” the controversial film being made by his fellow Aussie about the last day of Jesus Christ. The Oscar-winning “Gladiator” star promptly started to make fun of the film, and was especially amused that “Passion” is reportedly being made in archaic languages without subtitles. “WELL IF WHAT I’ve heard about it is fair dinkum (Aussie lingo for “true”) that he spent $25 million making a movie that’s shot in Aramaic and Latin and he’s intending to release it without subtitles, I think he’s got to get off the glue,” Crowe said. “What’s the point of making a movie where people can’t understand what’s going on? I don’t understand that. If you want it for reality or whatever, I think, ‘Wow, what an amazing idea,’ but also what a waste of time if nobody can get what the point is.”
It was pointed out that Gibson has said he doesn’t need subtitles because everyone knows the story. “Well, if we know the story, if we know it that well, why did (he) bother making it again?” Crowe said and reiterated his jokey advice: “Mr. Gibson, get off the glue!”Picture of Mel Gibson for those who care

That's actually one of the clearer statements I've heard about the differences between racism in the north and the south. In my experience, in the south, people may just let their racist flag fly (over the capital, even), but, at the same time, the south is much more geographically and socially integrated than the north, and the different races, racist or not, actually interact with each other much more regularly and much more familiarly than they do in the north. Maybe it has to do with southern economics more than history, I don't know, but that "winking" up here extends to a hell of a lot more than club memberships and promotions. It extends to even acknowledging the problem. Down south, at least it is dealt with instead of denied.
