It's a little late now to claim you have standards.

Which model mattress did you get? Price?

Look what it takes to bring ABBA back!

dtb's having a shotgun wedding and evenodds was offered $$ for a BJ. What's new with you?

The CelebrityBed. It's heavenly. Retail is $4-5k, even on sale, but I have seen it as low as $3k. I got a "to the trade" price (thanks, mom).

Last week I was approached by a sweet young hobo who offered to share his forty of malt liquor with me. I think that might be the highlight of the past 2.5 years. Other than that it has just been the chaos typical of ABBAKiss. :D

Wow. I went online to check out the mattresses after you posted your message, and was surprised by the prices. That one is on the website for $3,999 for just a king size mattress. I'd like a new mattress, but I'm not that interested in paying four grand (ok, or even $3,999) for one. But it is good to know that it is an awesome mattress.

What is the "to the trade" price? (And to clarify, I mean to the trade of decorators/interior designers/etc. If there's a hooker-trade price I don't have very good contacts, even though gmail is back up)

I know it's ridiculous. Plus, you have to get the foundation (a gigantic microfiber-wrapped box), no matter what kind of bed you get, which tacks on a minimum of $400.

But, a truly great mattress is worth the price.

There are less expensive tempurpedics (and the luckiest man alive has a plush sealy version) and I frankly cannot imagine ever buying an inner-spring again.

It's amazing for sleeping. For sexing, we prefer surfaces with less resistance, so will continue to use the sofas, the cocktail table, the dining chairs, the kitchen counter, the rugs, etc.

Fine, twist my arm, why don't you? You can't just put the mattress on top of a traditional box spring?

Questions:
  • Did you previously prefer a firm mattress? I don't like anything to cushy - I hate pillowtops.
  • Isn't the fabric too warm?

I went to a national furniture chain and the bed was $4400 on sale. I paid a little less than half of that during a manufacturer's promotion.

Ahem, I was solicited as a whore, but I have no whore access or pricing.

I may have some whore powers, though.

I would think not for the structural integrity. Traditional box springs -- which I haven't used in 15 years or more, so I could be wrong -- have planks, right, rather than being a flat surface? The point is you need a flat surface for the mattress to rest upon.

Yes, I prefer a firm mattress. I had a pillow-top, but it was firm. The fabric is not too warm. That was more of an old-school problem, and they have re-engineered the tops and the fabrics to keep them cool and help with airflow. I live in Texas and I am perfectly comfortable.

This feels like floating. There is an opposing softness and firmness. It's hard to describe. Go to a store and try them out. I went to a Havertys and they had dozens of models. That's how I picked what I loved.

That's easy - a waterbed. The only thing less effective and comfortable is attempting the act in actual water.

Quote:

So, pick your side folks: A perfect night’s sleep, or great sex? Apparently, more of you prefer the sleep. According to a new survey of 12,500 frequent travelers (sponsored by Westin Hotels & Resorts conducted with the help of the National Sleep Foundation), more than 51% of respondents preferred a perfect night of sleep to great sex (that’s 20 percentage points higher than when Westin conducted a similar survey two years ago). Nearly half of those polled (42%) said they’d “rather have a sleeping pill on their pillow than a traditional chocolate,” and 57% said a bad night’s sleep has hurt their business performance.

**

Here’s a sampling of the rest of the poll:

--men, not women, are more likely than women to take sleep over sex, with the majority of women saying they prefer sex to snoozing. And Americans aren't alone – in 90% the countries surveyed, sleep beat sex (Canada was the sole exception).

I used to have a tempur pedic which I loved but it gave me headaches (I think I am allergic to the space age material). Anyway, I then got this http://www.lifekind.com/index.php/si...t/20/?from=3,5 which is organic natural rubber, and it is awesome for sleeping and also awesome for the sexing. And eco-friendly! (also, expensive).

I have to wonder if they offered to exchange anything more interesting than a sleeping pill for a chocolate. Throw in Halle Berry or Jenna Jameson (from several years back), and I suspect they would have gotten a different result.
