Yes. I am sure that is that is the only reason Hugh Hefner still dates 24 year olds instead of 70 year olds like himself. Do you really think he doesn't date 70 year olds b/c he can't hold up his end of a conversation around them, or because he can't hold up his end of an erection around them?

Oldest I have dated is 15 years older (40 when I was 25) and yougest I have dated is 11 years younger (20 when I was 31). Current object of my infatuation is 5 years younger than me.

Age differences. I think it depends on what the age range of your friends is. I have close friends in their forties, fifties and sixties, and I have close friends in their early twenties. I can totally see dating out of either group. I know several couples with severe age differences that do just fine. One couple in particular that I can think of she's in her mid twenties and he's in his late forties, early fifties. There doesn't seem to be any power disparities in that relationship, though there are major wealth disparities. My 23 year old cousin is dating a 31 year old woman, and they're both very upset that he's going to have to break it off soon due to changes in geography. The one disaster that I can recall is when a friend of mine married an 18 year old when he was 32. Within three years they were divorced (the spread was five years). The years between 18 and 24 or so seem to me to be the years when people change the most and find their feet, so a long term relationships with anyone (even if you are in the same age bracket) at that point in time seems like it's going to be hard to sustain.

The two men that I know that are actively looking for younger women (they're both in their 60s and they're looking for women in their 30 and 40s) were the ones that were dumped by THEIR spouses.

2) I never answered this poll, and sinceI kn ow you all are standing by breathlessly, here goes. My oldest age difference had to be about 14 yrs. I know he was forty, I just cant remember how old I was but I think I could not have been older than 26 or 27. That was one date. He looked really young and seemed young at heart. Then I played strip pool with him and he had middle aged man body. End of story. Oh, and I remember this, he had a teensy weensy pecker (I am such a ho)- actually, that might have been more the problem than the age. But he seemed really young. Middle aged men have always grossed me out as I spent a lot of my youth on my parents sailboat where we would host guests and middleaged men always stunk up the head and had icky bodies. So for me to consider a forty yo, he had to have been real young looking.

Youngest- had a three year relationship with someone five years younger. During a little downtime with this guy, I hooked up with a very good pal who was seven years younger than me. But he was so big and hairy, you would never have known. The true definition of sexy-disgusting.

I haven't dated too many younger women. That said, I have always, like all men, sought and found women my own age who looked younger. The reason I did so was exactly the same reason Hugh Hefner dates 24 year olds - we all look a lot more attractive when we're young. When I see a 20 year old college student with a perfect ass pass by, my minds plays certain scenes that would never come to mind when I see a 40 year old in a loose fitting conservative dress which hides a bad case case of secretarial spread. We're to be attracted to youth and health, which are evidenced by good looks. Beatrice the Spinster may be fascinating, but we can't change the fact that she can scare a dog off a meat wagon. Meredith the cute little blonde graduate may not be worldly yet, but she'll get there with time, and look damn fine in the process.

Men by nature are visually aroused. Young women trip a primordial switch deep in the recesses of our minds that I could no more explain to you than you could explain menstrual cramps to me. Being a rational thinking creature, I am constatntly amazed at just how hard it is for me to keep my eyes from wandering to the cleavage of the smiling 20 year old girl who sits behind the desk at the front door of my gym. I wouldn't trade my wife for a million bucks, but I'd pay that little girl everything in my wallet at the moment if she offered to show me what she was hiding behind that low cut top...

PJ, you sound to me like someone who is deeply offended by the fact that men are more interested in the package than the substance, so I'll offer you this caveat to ease your blood pressure - no matter how hot the cute little girls may be, if they've nothing between the ears, most good men won't marry them. As much as I'd drool at the beach and privately damn monoghamy to myself when a fantastic hottie passed me in a bar, I was not going to get involved with any chick who couldn't interest me.

Its hard to find a bright hottie and make it work. You've a better chance of hitting back to back holes in one. Hence, most guys will accept hot and dumb or hot and much younger. This does not make such men insecure - if anything, it just makes them unlucky.

I just think that you are overlooking the obvious. Most 26 year olds have waaaaay better bodies than a 36 or 46 year old--or 66 year old. With the notable exception of 3 posters over the age of 35 who take very good care of themselves, most women start to neglect the workout regimine when they get past a certain age. There are a lot more 22 year olds who can look good without working out than there are 42 year olds. So spare me the cliche about the insecure man looking for an empty headed bimbo. IMHO they are looking for a sex pot and don't care if she is younger or older.

As for me, I have dated younger and older and I don't have a hang up about either. I don't fancy myself a younger Hef since remnants of catholic guilt would probably prevent me from being with more than one woman at a time; and I am happy with the girl I am dating now and wouldn't want to be with anyone else--of any age. (and no, she doesn't read this board, so I am not just trying to kiss up).
