Ich bin ein Kopierer

so while here in beautiful michigan, my austrian exchange student proudly shows me "In 3 Days You'll Be Dead." this is supposedly the top grossing movie in Austria that was made in Austria. the writer/director is a friend of Exchange student's family; close enough he refers to the guy as his "uncle."

so we watch the movie, subtitled, and the plot is this:

Promiscous teens begin receiving text messages teling them "in 3 days you'll be dead." then they die horribly.

spoiler- it turns out that, years ago, these teens let a younger boy they were watching drown, and now, the mother of the drowned child, whom everyone assumed had died, is back killing the teens for revenge.

the exchange student seemed very proud of his uncle's creativity. then I explained the basic plot line of Friday the 13th, Part 1, and Ringu.

wrecking a young man's familial pride is not something I set out to do, but leaving him under false impression would not be in keeping with the cultural sharing aims of the foreign exchange program.

now, "in 3 days you'll die part 2" is out. from the trailer, I can't tell for sure which stories the guy stole this time around, can you?

how could the lady ahead of you admire your tush, were you turned backwards, presenting your rear as some bizarre suburban show of submission?

otherwise, perhaps she was admiring your fanny.

No, I meant "in front of" as in "her turn was ahead of mine". I was wandering the rows of cheesy jewelry. It was the kind of place that looks as if it hasn't sold anything in about 30 years.

Though maybe it was the camel toe.

Do you have "The Bomber"? If not, Itune that. If you dig the old James Gang stuff, it's a must have. Walsh plays "Bolero" in the middle. You might be thinking, "Ted Nugent tried that in 'Stranglehold' and it sucked." Well, that's because Ted Nugent sucks. Walsh (or whoever the band's guitarist was) makes it work, almost as good as Jeff Beck's amazing "Beck's Bolero." Great tune.

But then, I always had a soft spot for "Bolero." And the funny thing is, it's hardly the best of Ravel's catalog. I can't recall the names of anything as it's all just random shit on my Ipod, but going out and buying a handful of Ravel compilation discs will always do you right. The piano's great in his stuff.

Anyway, buy "The Bomber" on Itunes.

ETA: Oh, and the JG live record from the early 70s isn't bad either.

Though hardly as good as the Bowie "Live in Santa Monica, 1972." That's some gritty glam shit right there.

True story from today, a cautionary tale about lack of impulse control.

I'm on the elevator up to the corner office. Only other people are a youngish 30-something MILF and her daughter, about 3 yo. Our eyes meet and there is tacit acknowledgement that she is a MILF, which is probably where it should have been left. Tacit. So then she starts applying lip balm of some sort or another, of which I am stealing glances and indulging in prurient thoughts, as is my wont. My internal mental visualization is broken when I hear her say (apparently to her daughter) "would you like to try some of Mommy's lip balm?", to which I responded, unfortunately out loud (i.e. lack of impulse control) "YES, plant some on me"......to which she responded with a look of horror and then smacked me across the face.

Conclusion, her stop came up almost immediately, she pushed her daughter in front of her towards to the opening doors and then before she exited, turned and gave me a quick kiss. Go figure.

Day has been down hil from there......

Bravo! A day in the life of the corner officed. How dull it would be to have to live as one of those dreary little cubicle people. Especially at this time of year. Wouldn't you agree? (Of course you would. ;))

You callin' me a local? They're less useful in DC because the city doesn't know how to plow and the locals don't care to shovel. Anywhere else, snow is mostly gone pretty quickly.

2, boc. I must note that, in deference to my stature, I decided to forego billing for the day. I am sitting in my corner office. feet up, crystal in hand, containing a delightfully mature '88 Margaux, looking out over the Sound and the Olympics beyond as the snowstorm rolls in. Good times. But you, one of the few, know, where of I speaketh.

I use Magnum XXXL and have never had a problem, other than, depending on the moment, a little uncomfortable tightness of fit.

It irritates me greatly that the birth control pill requires a prescription. It's a fucking pain in the ass to deal with dr.'s offices, pharmacies, insurance companies, etc to get a piece of paper that says I can continue doing the same damned thing I've been doing for years.

FTR, once someone is off board for a year or more, they re-qualify as a newber, for recruitment purposes, so give PLF credit, where credit is due.

Are the snowplows in Detroit awaiting a bailout too?

I grew up in snow, and the streets and sidewalks were generally clear by the time the snow stopped falling, as well as before. If they weren't pretty much everything, including courts, was closed.

I debated on which board to post this on, but I figured it probably belonged her instead of on the PB.

Bill filed to bar BCS from using the words "National Champion" unless there's a playoff involved.

On the subject of facebook.... many of my sorority sisters have recently been scanning photos from formals, etc. and posting them on facebook.

I had big hair. And questionable taste in clothes.

Though the photo of me and my soon-to-be-husband and I from the sophomore winter formal is pretty amusing.
