Fair point, but the iMacs get the stuff they overstocked for the $3,200 17" MBP, while the minis have typically been $800 MacBooks run through a different assembly line at FoxxConn. I bought a mini last Fall; maybe the just-released version has gone more upmarket.

Yes. The unhappy employees that built your mini are, um, no longer with the company.

I've bought weed by the gram and by the ounce. I'm flexible like that.

Speaking of Apple and unhappy employees, I just did a facetime call with an Apple employee (they have a dedicated line for people who just want to try it out). This guy was in a good mood at 5:00 on a Friday. He's surely been sitting there all day having the same mind-numbing conversation and looking at the ugly mugs of the people too excited to wait until one of their friends gets an iphone. Gotta hand it to the guy. Plus, I wonder how many times people expose themselves to him.

All that said, facetime is intuitive, well-laid out, has good picture quality and is just plain fucking cool. And it's free.

Gimme some more Apple Kool Aid.

Quicktime instead of Windows Media, so there's occasionally videos you won't be able to play, but that's rare these days.

When I bought an Apple 15 months ago I could not find a driver for our HP 4-in-1 and haven't been able to use it since. But that's a small cost -- I love the thing.

Look. your state/city clearly clearly is in top shape. They live for recreational "opportunities" in NY people are in top shape but most of us are desk paper pushers who see the inside of a gym and I don't see where 1/2 hour is not respectable a time. 45 mins is slow I admit but I was just pleased I didn't walk it. next year I'll do better you and 'trane run and actually train. it's not the same. at least I incentivized to not sit on the couch. damn.

I am not surprised you missed my point. I think it is great that you ran a 5K. I don't care if it took you an hour. Getting out and running a 5K is, for many, simply not possible. There are many for whom getting out and walking a 5K is impossible. I hope you decide you want to improve your time and figure out how to do it. But to delude yourself into thinking that 10 minute miles in a 3 mile race is top shape when top marathoners can more than double that speed for 26.2 is delusional. It has nothing to do with Minnesota. Look at 5K results from anywhere in this land (is my land), and maybe you will stop shitting on this great country of ours with your defecatory suggestion that half hour 5Ks is the best our beautiful United States can muster. We are faster than you think, and your inability to believe that is an insult to me and my nation.

I even found the driver for our old Dell branded printer/fax/scanner when I switched over (it is cross-listed as an HP if I recall correctly). Of course that thing is B&W which is basically useless for design purposes. So now I have a hi res scanner and separate color printer. I can print to all 3 from the MacBook Pro.

not to be a timmy, but to use the top marathoners is just not fair.

cf Thurgreed and i actually are both decent basketball players, yet neither of us could do anything on a court full of NBA benchwarmers.

instead, consider, when I met the woman who became my wife, she smoked a pack a day. she started to "jog", and in her first race she shuffled along for 5K. she threw up (true story) as she crossed the finish line at 33 minutes. Later she got to be in "top shape" but there you go.

I'm not sure what a 15 minute mile running looks like, but I do agree with you that doing it is better than not doing it.

Please stop. It is simply untrue that someone in "top shape" in their 20s can't finish 3 miles in under half an hour. It is NOT FAST. That's a 10-minute mile. That's NOT FAST. It's not laughable, maybe, but it's NOT FAST. Unless black is white, and night is day, it's NOT FAST.

The mac operating system is far, far better than windows. I'm in the why didn't I switch sooner camp. Actually, I am the kind of guy who jerks off thinking of an imac.

Citrix runs on Mac and you don't have to have Windows loaded on your machine for all of the Windows apps on Citrix to work (this may go without saying to people more technically savvy than I, but I am saying it anyway), although of course you can't work on Windows offline, and I find that my Mac quits out of Citrix much more quickly than my PC ever did. .

Yeah but that so called corporate challenge is a shit show where you spend 10 minutes waiting to get moving. Admittedly though, 3 miles in 30 minutes is old folks territory. I'm near 50, a hundred pounds overweight and only run 2x a week and that's about what I do

3 miles in 20 minutes is not.
