"Denial" is apparently the name of a building on the Upper East Side.

Brown is the Roger replacement. And several years younger.

I think our staff potentially got better - that being said, I'm all about loyalty to local sports heroes and would liked to have kept Andy around another 5 years - and have "46" join future Retirees "2", "22", and "42" on the Left field wall.

edited to add:
And actually, "EL Duque" was our big game pitcher - after Jimmy Key was our big game pitcher. Stop revising history.
Jimmy Key was OUR big game pitcher first. When Jim Clancy wasn't available, that is.
And, can you retire #42 twice? Just curious.

The article says that it makes you fly, so, along with the Coke, (which, as you say, can leave you flat), you're ending up with, really, a two-dimensional peaking.

I think I'd rather have a Grinch than a Nicotini.

http://graphics7.nytimes.com/images/...cotini.184.jpg

"The Nicotini, as it is known, comes in various forms -- among them a Quick Puff (a single shot) and, more enticingly, a Black Lung (mixed with Kahlua)."

Edited to add, I've also found spray on stockings:

http://graphics7.nytimes.com/images/...4spary.184.jpg

"Air Stocking is not yet available in the United States, but it can be bought in Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Singapore. So far, about a million cans (which sell for about $15 apiece and contain 10 to 15 days' worth of ''stockings'') have been sold in Japan, mostly to office workers and students.

While it does not come in fishnet or plaid, Air Stocking is available in Terra Cotta, Bronze and Natural. (Yes, it is possible now to spray something on your legs and look as if you have sprayed nothing on your legs.)"

1) True dat

2) Yes. Which leads to two baseball trivia questions:

a) Since baseball retired Jackie Robinson's "42" across the League, who is the only person still allowed to wear the number?

-answer: Mo Rivera was grandfathered in

b) What number is retired twice by the Yankees?

answer: #8 Yogi Berra and #8 Bill Dickey

Andy said he wanted to test free agency. Cashman let him without complaint. When it came time to put the chips down, his offer was almost 10 million dollars more than the one Andy took. That's pretty much all Cashman said (did you even read it?).

If you want to criticize because Cashman didn't wine and dine him enough, go ahead. But based on what I've seen (and that includes the transcript from his conference call), I don't think Cashman deserves that much of the blame on this one.
This argument isn't going to work well if we're both going to keep saying that Cashman wasn't to blame. So why don't you take the position that he f*cked it all up, and I will explain why Pettitte cared about being in Houston more than the money (doubly irrational if you ask me, but maybe he really likes the River Cafe*). If that doesn't work, we can switch sides.

*Not-so-well-hidden attempt to change the subject by inducing the Texans around here to talk about something else.

Is the "*" part of the name of River Cafe? If not, where the hell is the note? I hate when you people (and you know who you are) do a * and even a ** and then have no explanation at the bottom. Jesus. Straighten up and fly right, dammit.

Edited to say that you get credit for going back and putting in the note, but you should get it right THE FIRST TIME.

This seems a little steep considering I paid almost $90 for an entire tree. But I can't wear it. And I bet the evergreen stays fresh for quite a while, if watered properly.

Steinbrenner has to fly down to Houston to take him out for Miles of Chocolate or worse yet, spend Thanksgiving kissing his ass?
Hmmm. Wonder if the Texas FBers (and their ravable asses) had anything to do with it. Maybe Petitte just wants a little touch of Fringey in the night?

Aw, I can't believe I'm citing my mother twice in one day but they had spray-on stockings when she was in college in the South in the 50s.

If someone could post a picture of my new love-ah, that would be helpful. Thanks! (Obviously, I don't even look at the paper, let alone read it.)

I'm pretty sure I saw some at the Erotic Cabaret on Westheimer between Waugh and Commonwealth. You can probably get them at Target, too, but I think the Erotic Cabaret may be more fun.

And this is my 1000th post.

Did she use an eyebrow pencil to draw the seam on her leg?
