What, like if those guys went to college and played at Kentucky or some other factory they'd be so much better off? Most of them wouldn't get a degree, and the school would toss them to the curb once their eligibility is done anyway, leaving them in pretty much the same place 3 years later.

And, of course, 3 years is the average length of a professional sports career.

the percentage of people who play pro basketball compared to those that think they will is small. a lot of guys who stay four years make good connections and find jobs. a lot of them get better and have a better shot at actually playing pro. most are better off sticking for a year or two or four, especially if the alternative is sitting bench on a D-league team in duluth.

Right, but how many of that group would in fact try to go pro right out of high school?

Anyway, if the NCAA gave a damn, the NCAA would not make declaring for the draft, or even hiring an agent, result in a loss of eligibility. Then anyone who misjudged his talent wouldn't be SOL.

Good point. Like lawtalkers does. GGG misjudged his talent at first but people still let him come back and post.

So was juggling bowling pins. Just because the Olympics went thru a dumb-fuck period in the 20s doesn't give an excuse to repeat it

Jesus God it was even on topic. I had no idea Presidents' Day was such an engaging holiday.

I doubt you'd be impressed by my fashion sense if I suggested animal print tops for you, not to mention that snakeskin print is totally not my thing.

We've lost most of our fashionistas so this probably isn't the best place to ask about that.
