How to get fired in Turkey.

A French soccer player who celebrated a goal by stripping his shirt and putting his hand down his shorts was fired Tuesday by his Turkish team.

Sorry, no pictures.

How about Gabriel Byrne? Yes, he can be a bit frumpy but he could definitely carry the role and he's not so well known that he couldn't be Bond. And he's the right age.

I think Bond really does have to be taller than 5'6" though, don't you? (Or maybe he just looks smaller on the big screen).

AI - ish Review of Kelly's Album

The most surprising thing I have read today: Entertainment Weekly liked Kelly Clarkson's album.

Here is an excerpt from the B+ review:
_
Clarkson had access to top talent for her debut -- Babyface, Diane Warren, Clive Davis -- and she deserved it. Her voice, at times raspy, at times beautifully sultry, is a potent reminder of why America embraced her. Clarkson glides through octaves with the masterful control of someone who's been doing this for decades. And her range is awesome: In a dozen tracks, she owns pop (''Just Missed the Train''), R&B (''Thankful''), country (''Low''), and gospel (''Anytime''), and has enough stamina left to take on her strongest competitor, Tamyra Gray. The duo's spunky ''You Thought Wrong'' is the best diva dustup since Brandy and Monica's ''The Boy Is Mine'' in 1998.

That's easy. Julia Stiles is the one I'd glady be called a disgusting old pervert for teaching things I blush merely thinking about.

PETA urges Hamburg, N.Y. to change name

April 22, 2003 _|_ HAMBURG, N.Y. (AP) -- A national animal rights group has offered Hamburg officials $15,000 to change the town's name to Veggieburg.

"The town's name conjures up visions of unhealthy patties of ground-up dead cows," said Joe Haptas, spokesman of People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, or PETA, in a letter faxed Monday to Hamburg Supervisor Patrick Hoak.

PETA offered to supply area schools with $15,000 worth of non-meat patties for the name change.

Even is right, you have to count my very first post as 1 even though the counter doesn't count it. If we start with slave's post as 3020, which is what it was when I counted (it read 3019 you add my post that is 3020) and count back 20, you ened up with Spooky winning.

So sayeth Leagl ;)

I am happy to tell you, the upgade actually numbers the posts. I am told that we can expect it in June, but they don't promise it will be done by then.

Been away for a while, but had to share this:

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmp...t_030422221501

<<Spree: Class action lawsuit filed against the band Creed for putting on a bad show.>>

While I wholeheartedly support the Plaintiffs' contentions, I think they have an uphill battle here proving that Creed, on the night in question, sucked any more than they usually do...

If I'm defending this case: "But your honor, my clients have no talent. They stink. These people knew or should have known this before coming to the show!!" I then play a few of their songs for the jury and rest my case.

Connery, Moore, Stiles, Christensen

What about Connery when he was Bond? I don't think he could be classified as a GQ pretty-boy. He was more rugged and athletic than any of the other Bonds. Bond shouldn't go through an entire movie with nary a hair out of place. Remember, the character of Bond is basically a killer. Killers don't have manicures.

Of the three who tested, Owen is the one who most clearly fits the mold... Bond should be, above all, tough and resourceful, not to mention worldly, thus eliminating someone who is too young.
I vote for Clive Owen. (Surprise.) The last time this made the news, Entertainment Weekly or some other magazine rated the Bond-contenders. Their criticism of Owen was that he wasn't able to convey violence. This means they didn't see Croupier because Clive gets into a couple of fights in the film: he beats up a cheat outside of the casino, and he gets beaten down by a robber at the casino. I think Clive gets bonus points because (1) he does all of the fighting while wearing a tuxedo, and (2) after the fight at the casino, he gets stitched up by another croupier and winds up forcefully shagging her.

The kid from Bend it Like Beckham seems way too young. And Jude Law doesn't have enough hair to play Bond.

The difference between Julia Stiles and Erika Christensen is that Julia has a career and Erika has one good performance in Traffic. Maybe Erika is going to an Ivy League school too and is knee deep in books, but when you follow up your shot at the big time with Swimfan playing a teenage version of Glenn Close, you might want to ask yourself, "Hey, what has Glenn Close been in lately?"

Wonk, I can understand your carnal desires for Julia, but she's paired with guys my age in movies anyway (see Jason Lee). So, I'm content to switch older for younger and lust after Nigella Lawson, switching the age difference in the opposite direction. Kinda like a Zen balancing thing for the Board.

Combined with the usual $15 a ticket screwing by TicketBastard, I guess it was just too much to take... At least they got sued too.

I still think that Sean Bean would be a great Bond. Too bad they already used him as a bad guy.
