Kill it all. I don't save them and I've been assiduously deleting them in hopes the phantom will get the hint and leave.

E/O, I am stunned by what your post implies. It suggests that a poster should not publicize his (or her) peeves, because there's a risk that other posters might take note and then deliberately do annoying things.

The implications are too staggering to contemplate.

Kid wants to go to Stanford. They gave kid my phone number and told em to call me for advice. After I stop laughing, what to I tell em?
Tell him to go down to a banana republic (not the store) and smoke a lot of weed. Or go to Breckenridge and work for the mountain and smoke a lot of weed. Or backpack through Europe, stopping often in Amsterdam to smoke a lot of weed. Tell him to fuck off for an entire year while bartending and trying to set records for benders. Oh, and smoke a lot of weed.

Only posters who are hated by one or more people should be careful about the pet peeve thing. You and I are safe.

Just for some perspective, my parents (both shrinks) told me that if I ever become a shrink they will break my arms and legs. So I went to law school.

As it turns out, we can't all be game show hosts.

Therefore, he was mocking you guys in a way you wouldnt quite get- he was basically saying you were doing my I heart Larry thing. Meaning, 1) paigow has already been there and beat it to death and 2) you havent been around long enough to know this and/0r 3) you have no sense of what is dead horse or at least staked out territory that cannot be done in a more enterataining manner than it has already been done, and thus, will bore him. Also, he was mocking your longuylandish "like totally, he is the best" language, which is basically the equivalent of a LOL bc it really adds nothing to the board (for TM of course).

Any questions?
One: did it ever occur to you that I was mocking you?

Hm. Maybe that was too cryptic. Some further explanation: I once read an article about a child prodigy who finished college at age 12 or some such. When asked what he wanted to do for a career, he said he wanted to be a game show host. So there it is.

La Boheme . . . It's an Opera.
And this is bacon. Like you would find in a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich.

Nope- you are too much of a literalist and have a record of being a bit of a post hoctivist. Or in other words, you my dear are a literatist post hoctivist. \

Happy hour tonight?

Speaking of Trading Splaces ... I have a friend who is struck by the resemblance of the Duke Brothers with the guys in the balcony on the Muppet Show. He thought that maybe the Muppets were modeled after the Dukes, but the movie came out in '83 and the show premiered in '76 -- and I am assuming that the balcony guys were there early on. Maybe it's the other way around? Frank Oz did work on the movie.

Has anybody ever noticed this?

If you think I am a literalist you grossly misunderstand me.

Welcome back, paigow. As gwnc noted, you were missed.

Despite the fact that I am crazy about you (in a Frank for Mia circa 1968 kinda way -- you know, world-weary man about town falling for young ingénue), I must tell you that you are wrong, wrong, wrong about h_k and BoP.

Despite her use of a sanrio moniker, h_k was not immature. As PLF will confirm, she knew irony. And BoP was discussing her new *brazilian* wax at a time well before it was a mainstream Thing To Do (ah, 1999!).

Alas, BoP. Sigh.

In no way do Bo and Luke resemble Waldorf and Statler.

Maybe Uncle Jesse though?
