Uh, carry on.

Cogent may be a bit strong.

If I were a star quarterback in a national championship game, I would have the words "I want" in the eyeblack under my right eye and the word "virgins" in the eyeblack under my left eye. Then, when there was a big controversy, I would explain that I was simply expressing the virtue of remaining a virgin for as long as possible, but I could not fit all that into the eyeblack, so I had to to shorten that message as much as possible. And I would apologize about any confusion. Then there would be another big controversy when word got about about that huge number of virgins I had deflowered (sts) in the days and weeks after the game. But I'm sure I would have some other excellent explanation to cover that. It's really too bad that I am not much of an athlete, now that I think about it.

Ever do that? One of the best races I've ever done. (and that's saying something!)

I don't mind the cold or the snow.

It's the slush that sucks.

I've never run that race.

I am not an active member of any organised religion, but if I were, it would likely be a different one than Tebow (who I had to google to figure out who he was), and I don't follow college football, or any American football, although if I did, any Florida team (excepting the Dolphins) would be at the bottom of my list, no offence, however, I am pro-expression, whatever the message, and if I were Tebow, I would get the verse tattooed on my forehead (with a temporary tattoo, but I would lie and claim it was real, cuz that;s how I roll), and then I would hold a press conference and tell all the h8ers to go fuck themselves. And if Florida benched me, I'd go pro, and if the NFL shunned me, I'd go to the WFL or USFL or the European leagues or something. Eat that!

Indeed! The course I remember only had two crossings, waist-low chest deep, but the overall flow of the race, npi, was anaerobic. It was an 8k. No time to go hypothermic.

27 and a bunch of change, although I got me arse handed to me by more than a couple of highschool cross country kids.

It was, however, a long time ago.

I don't know a lot about this race, but, someone has died doing it, so it has some street cred, with the kids, I guess. I am not sure its harder than say, western states 100 or UltraMan or Speights Coast to Coast, but its certainly quirkier.

Yeah, her trainer ia a multiple Leadville 100 MTB finisher, and with really sick fast times. But this will probably be a different sort of challenge. I am guessing he will have endurance to spare.

Be careful out there

A friend of mine from Oklahoma just got on Facebook. Soon after, he gets a freind request from a guy he went to HS with years ago. They've drifted, and my friend was not aware that Aryan-rights has become a big part of this other guy's life.

Friend's sister and her black husband are FB clicking and see friend's page and link to HS classmate's page, seeing some offensive things. They are now angry at my friend for having such a face book friend. My friend is too new to know how to look at the guy's stuff. Innocent I tell you.

The story of course suggests being careful when you friend.

the story also makes me glad I declined coltrane's friend request. I'm sure there is anti-Italian hate there that would offend my family.

the story also reminds me of my worst "false racism" incident.

several friends were in NYC, at the MoMA. we all bought postcards etc. When we leave it was raining. The umbrella sellers tried to sell us $10 umbrellas, but we were too smart.

Instead, we ripped a seam on our white plastic bags from the museum gift shop and wore them like a hat. Walking down the street we could see people actually crossing the street to avoid us. We weren't sure what was up. then two young black men started shouting "Forsythe county, go back to Forsythe county," at us. This was right after the F.C. thing happened.

We realized the hats looked like KKK hats. We bought unbrellas.
