Those are the guys who outfitted the Norweigan curling team's uniform to great fashion success, if ultimate curling defeat to Canada.

There's a problem with cider on ice?

convential wisdom is if you are going to impress a girl when in Rome, then you need to behave in the roman way.

Flaming

I remember Circa Dragon telling someone off at some point back on Infirm. His flame "The stupidity of your posts leads me to the conclusion that your brain is being kept alive in some laboratory, to which you are denied access." I admired and (obviously) remembered* that flame for years afterwards.

Along the same lines, I would have loved to have this guy posting with us:
Quote:

Nov. 20. 1905

J. H. Todd
1212 Webster St.
San Francisco, Cal.

Dear Sir,

Your letter is an insoluble puzzle to me. The handwriting is good and exhibits considerable character, and there are even traces of intelligence in what you say, yet the letter and the accompanying advertisements profess to be the work of the same hand. The person who wrote the advertisements is without doubt the most ignorant person now alive on the planet; also without doubt he is an idiot, an idiot of the 33rd degree, and scion of an ancestral procession of idiots stretching back to the Missing Link. It puzzles me to make out how the same hand could have constructed your letter and your advertisements. Puzzles fret me, puzzles annoy me, puzzles exasperate me; and always, for a moment, they arouse in me an unkind state of mind toward the person who has puzzled me. A few moments from now my resentment will have faded and passed and I shall probably even be praying for you; but while there is yet time I hasten to wish that you may take a dose of your own poison by mistake, and enter swiftly into the damnation which you and all other patent medicine assassins have so remorselessly earned and do so richly deserve.

Adieu, adieu, adieu!

Mark Twain
(Images of original handwritten letter at link above)

*I did have to search the archives for the exact wording and location of the flame. Looks like no one has been to the FB since last October, to the Big Board since January.

IIRC on Infirm you had to have a unique e-mail address for each new login but could change the handle of every login. You can imagine how complicated Penske's life used to be.

Hotel Vintage Plaza.

Food:

Go to Pok Pok

Maybe the Acropolis for steak and strippers.

VooDoo donuts for the maple bacon thing.

a cena-nice little italian restaurant, drop my nickname (the real one).

If you like hot sweaty dancing with cute latinas, go to Mambo Lounge.

maybe hit the Willamette for some wine tasting.

That's all I got.

No Seattle?

Since I live here, I don't know anything about hotels, so you'll have to take Penske's word for it. I actually have not been to Pok Pok yet, but would be open to going. You should definitely hit Kenny & Zuke's. Three words: Pastrami Cheese Fries. Also, my favorite sandwich, the Ken's Special (pastrami, slaw, chopped liver, russian dressing on rye):
http://www.kennyandzukes.com/pics/ga...pecial%201.jpg
I had a really great meal not too long ago at Nostrana. And Nick Zukin of Kenny & Zuke's just did (as in, the Top Ten came out yesterday) a rundown of the 25 best burgers in town.

I could easily come up with more food recs if you need to fill more meal slots.

Detroit is the third best restaurant city in the US behind only NYC and Chicago. We tend to bring food when we travel to the hinderlands. I will have Dearborn schwarma one day and Bloomfield lox the next in Portland. Still, thank you for the advice.

I only heard part of the interview, but figured that I would look at the show's page to see if she photographed well. I don't understand what all of Howard's raving was about.

I liked Robin's quote about how Howard is ruining the show because he knows all the A-listers and won't give up any information on them.

I find Billy's daughter Alexa tiresome. Trying to kill yourself when you are pampered and spoiled signifies depression but speaks of being out of touch and spoiled.

She is fugly with a cap F. with his bug eyes and face harsh nose. she's like tori spelling all the plastic surgery and thin in the world won't help your ass.

Her mom is a piece of work. At one point she screamed at her kid "Don't you try to ruin this for me" about her whatever marriage to Taubman the developer or industrialist. no wonder she's a hot mess and her dad annually wraps an S class around a tree.

Howard is a souless loser. made a career on hating on the very people he now parties with in the Hamptons with his vapid trophy wife that looks like a chimpunky Elin. he's a sell out and won't admit it.
