I was not participating in the K race, though, so I am reluctant to take the honor of naming the thread title. All I ask is that the title be Newber-friendly.

Ok, here's my new suggestion. Add to the rules (if it's not already there) that you can drop-kick anywhere, not just behind the line of scrimmage. Let's say a team is behind by 1, four seconds left on the clock, ball at midfield. This would give a team a whole lot more options than the boring Hail Mary. Think how awesome Flutie's PAT drop-kick was last year. Now imagine a play where you throw a 30 yard pass to the open man, who then gets some blockers to give him time and space to try to drop-kick it on the run for three points . . . best ending ever.
You mean like in australian rules football?

Are you a former convict?

But, if you can get the guy enough room for a drop kick, can't you get him enough room to score a touchdown?

For the record, that certain young lady is not me.

(although I am sure none of you would have jumped to that conclusion given that "young lady" is a bit of a stretch for me)

Fringey, how would that work?

http://img.timeinc.net/people/i/2006...cconaughey.jpg

"We tried it. Wasn't for us," McConaughey jokes to Details magazine in a new interview that addresses rumors about them – and pal Jake Gyllenhaal – being gay.

Armstrong, who has known McConaughey for eight years, stresses that despite the raised-eyebrows they've gotten due to photos of them – often shirtless – biking, running and partying together, they are just buddies.

McConaughey goes further to defend their relationship saying, "A lot of people don’t understand friendship and brotherhood. I have a great friend in him. I’d do anything he asked me to, even though he’d probably never ask me to, and he feels the same way. It’s fun going out and living life and doing things at the drop of a hat. LiveStrong just happens to be the most deliberate guy I’ve ever met."

Armstrong, 35, calls McConaughey, 36, the "Redneck Buddha," and says the actor's laid back style has been a good influence on him – especially when it comes to gossip. "His idea is like, 'Look, it is what it is, so go out there and have fun.' He’s truly carefree – which is to say, he truly doesn't care."

Ah. It is what it is. Where have I heard that?

1991 Canada TV A-List through D-List

Since I haven't lived in Canada for lo these 15 years, the best I can do is take us back to 1991-ish.

A-List: Don Cherry, Bob Cole, Gary Dornhoffer, Peter Mansbridge, Barbara Frum, most of the Kids in the Hall, anyone who was ever on SCTV, whoever called the Wednesday night Leafs games on Channel 11.

B-List: Jim Perry, Bruce McCullough, John Major, the Barenaked Ladies, Jeannie Becker, Moses Znaimer, Brian Williams.

C-List: Anyone who was on Degrassi Jr. High, anyone who was on Beachcombers, the hugely underrated "Four on the Floor" guys

D-List: Anyone who was on any other CBC series (I don't think CTV had any original programming back then), any Much Music VJ, Mark Jones (who has gone on to bigger and better things) and any other TSN Sportsdesk (the name of the flagship show before it was changed to SportsCentre) anchors.

Do you remember Brian Linehan on City-tv? Or Brock Linehan as Martin Short interpreted him? For some reason he just popped into my head.

I am now overcome with memories, but I also have to ask you about J.D. Roberts. Why is he not on the list? Weren't the early 90s his heyday?

Probably about the same as an MFM, but without one of the slot options available. Or like an MM, with the extra M working from (further) behind.

Oakland Coliseum to be bombed

Web Site Claims Oakland's Coliseum To Be Bombed

Luckily, no one cares.

WASHINGTON - A Web site is claiming that seven NFL football stadiums will be hit with radiological dirty bombs this weekend, but the government on Wednesday expressed doubts about the threat. The warning, posted Oct. 12, was part of an ongoing Internet conversation titled "New Attack on America Be Afraid." It mentioned NFL stadiums in New York, Miami, Atlanta, Seattle, Houston, Oakland and Cleveland, where games are scheduled for this weekend.

Officials were made aware of the Web posting on Oct. 16. The threat was timed to be carried out on Sunday, Oct. 22, marking the final day in Mecca of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month.

The postings were made on a Web site dubbing itself "The Friend Society," which links to various online conversations and off-color cartoons.

The author of the threats, posted at 9:31 p.m. EDT on Oct. 12, identified himself online as "javness." "In the aftermath civil wars will erupt across the world, both in the Middle East and within the United States," javness wrote. "Global economies will screech to a halt. General chaos will rule."

"This isn't something you should joke about," a poster identified as "Kim Possible" (Atticus???) wrote in response almost two hours later. "If you are (serious) about this may I see your sources. Unless you're a psychic."

dirrrty bombs.
