Basically, they both won last night. Though Secrest gave two different
vote totals, news reports are now saying the difference was 130,000 votes, not 1300 or 13,000. (With math skills like that, I am glad he's not hosting a jeopardy-like game show.)
Regardless, it was not a decisive win. I checked EW this morning, and their online poll, offensively titled "did Ruben deserve to win?" catalogue more than 500,000 votes and a line of 63%-37% in favor of Big Ru.
For those of you who did not watch the show except for this week and perhaps last, Ruben's win might seem a little suspect because his voice was definitely tired and off. But you also got to see Clay's theatrical tics and oversinging.
Overall, the finals sucked and were not representative of either competitor's best performances throughout the competition.
