Yes. But ask yourself what you would want. You want the hit or you want the chance to go back and try again? Not ideal, but much better than what happened in MN, no?
And really, how often would you be upset about what the batter was awarded? Fans would be pissed off about the blown call, but if the batter was awarded a double on a hit that
might have been a triple, how pissed off can you be? All play would have stopped and you simply wouldn't know (except in a really rare case) if the runner would have made it to third.
