The problem, to the extent there even is one, is that flags are used as counterprotests to things like Día de la Raza and Cinco de Mayo. Because the Left allowed the Right to co-opt the flag in the 1970s, it works -- the American flag has successfully been turned into a symbol of nativist Know-Nothingism. Which is sad, but not a reason for a school administrator to try to spare people's feelings in the name of an inclusive learning environment.
