I'd like to think Joe Sixpack doesn't get incensed by this stuff because he's either given up, or doesn't think there's any way to change it. But I don't think that's true. I think he's so fucking dumb that an article discussing the Treasury Secretary nakedly assisting in insider trading is simply not interesting, or somehow "beyond him."
We deserve to lose our freedom. And the cattle who aren't disgusted by this shit deserve to be enslaved in debt, and have their benefits eviscerated. In a country where 20% of the citizens had adequate curiosity about the world beyond their couch, this story would be the headline in every newspaper. "Henry Paulson: Agnew by Different Means?"
