Barcelona is widely regarded as one of the best teams in the last 50 years.  They won Champions league two years ago, and were in the semifinals last year.  A good hunk of their players play on the Spanish national team, which won the World Cup three years ago and the Eruopean championship five months ago.  Barcelona also has Lionel Messi, an Argentine who is often compared to Michael Jordan when soccer fans try to explain him to American non-soccer fans.  
 
Celtic, on the other hand, was just happy to be there.  Celtic's victory yesterday literally made grown men cry . 
 
A regular poster on this board (who I think has departed permanently) has outted himself as a Celtic fan, and I imagine he is probably still recovering from the shock/alcohol poisoning.
