For the changing keypad locations, only time I'm seen that is for security entering federal agencies--so people couldn't look over your shoulder. Not sure you really need it for a door, given limited entries and ability to use some windex once in a while.
My issue is that this is ugly:



while the one I used in Japan was elegant.
