 I was responding to the last sentence of your post. Yes, it would be hard for Eastwood to allow for any doubt as to the heroism and nobility of even the most flawed of our veterans. Witness, as in Gran Torino, when he commits suicide by gangster. The vet will never be ambivalent in a Clint Eastwood film.
