The tech transfer folks I deal with are very busy, but part of it is the presence of a lot of deals that are just plain weird. Licensees with complex structures, people positioning themselves for SPAC funding, licensees doing restructuring in connection with an investment. It may be these are just the things I see, but there is a lot of drawing outside the lines going on right now, more than usual, and that just eats up time. I did a little presentation on SPACs and complex structures as a favor to one institution to try to help them get more control of it and had people pinging me about their deals in the middle of the presentation.

My client base is heavily companies with in-house IP staffing. They send out little agreement work. They like agreement work. Honestly I don't get that. I really don't like agreement work, but I know it must be me, because my clients all hog it up- they love it.
