I do not need an "expert" to conclude that the Fourteenth Amendment, which reads in part, "All persons born ... in the United States ... are citizens of the United States," means that all persons born in the United States, regardless of any legal status of their parents, are citizens of the United States.
It's just not that hard.

Apparently, the "experts" cited in the link also believe that this aspect of the 14th Amendment cannot itself be amended. So it's a good thing you don't listen to them, but....

The link within the link makes clear (or clearer than the author did) that what the "experts" called clearly unconstitutional was a bill to require one parent to have citizenship yadda yadda yadda. Thus is what the author called "changing the Constitution.". Thus, any dumbness is not necessarily the fault of the experts.
OTOH, the "experts" cited in the link within the link were Chermerinsky, who last I checked was a singular person, so YMMV.

The article is worded sloppily, but if you click through you'll see that the Republican effort is to pass a bill to deny citizenship rights, not to amend the Constitution.

Second, Clinton benefitted from a huge economic expansion (let's leave aside the argument about whether he helped bring that about). That's not enough to reduce the deficit -- I mean, Reagan had that advantage too, and he basically invented the culture of "we don't have to pay for government, we can grow it and bitch about it." (Having his cake, eating it, and savoring it too.) But, still. Obama may see some expansion, but I'm not holding my breath for another Clinton-era expansion.

Yeah, but if you then google Chermerinsky's writings on the subject you learn that he is actually speaking for multiple people.
Jesus H. Do you people have jobs?

In the sense that they would be happy to pass a bill that the courts would strike down so that they could then complain about judges, yes.

bummer
Quote:
Michael Clauer is a captain in the Army Reserve who commanded over 100 soldiers in Iraq. But while he was fighting for his country, a different kind of battle was brewing on the home front. Last September, Michael returned to Frisco, Texas, to find that his homeowners' association had foreclosed on his $300,000 house—and sold it for $3,500. This is story illustrates the type of legal quagmire that can get out of hand while soldiers are serving abroad and their families are dealing with the stress of their deployment. And fixing the mess isn't easy.
...
Seeking to avoid hearing about the situation in Iraq, May stopped watching the news. She rarely answered the door, and Michael says he couldn't tell her when he went "outside the wire"—off-base. May also stopped opening the mail. "I guess she was scared that she would hear bad news," says Michael. That was why she missed multiple notices from the Heritage Lakes Homeowners Association informing her that the family owed $800 in dues—and then subsequent notices stating that the HOA was preparing to foreclose on the debt and seize the home.
