Let's change just one fact. It is a literal change, but not really a substantive one. Assume that, instead of a car, the drunk is waving around a handgun? How about a flame-thrower?

are we also to assume that most people carry handguns or flame throwers around everyday? that to get home from the bar it is most efficient to carry the flame thrower?

I've decided that "I don't come to where you work and slap the dick out of your mouth" is the perfect all-purpose rejoinder for every occasion, except for the small fraction of people I've literally slapped dick out of. But again, the exceptions are rare.
