Was a good time last night... After my rebuy I actually hit a couple of nice hands, including filling a straight with J-8 offsuit on the river after some heavy betting. Still down about $500 for the night, though.
One hand while everyone was on, I was sitting with an open-ended straight flush draw going to the river... never hit anything like that before. Still haven't.
Love to make this a weekly thing. With the Sopranos off now, Sunday is basically laundry night and I'm usually up late.

Sounds good. I ended up down just a little, which is way better than I tend to do IRL. I'm looking forward to it now that I know how to navigate the site. Hopefully I won't experience any internet disruptions next time.

After a rocky start, I think I ended up about $1000 or $1200. My best hand was the one where the board ended with a full house, aces full of 10s and I had pocket kings. At least that was the most fun one...
I'd do weekly or twice a month...

You jackass.
I twice got AA. I got cracked twice. Everyone kept calling every raise. Even the guy with a measly pair of sevens after the flop, but continued to pay raise after raise, and was rewarded with a seven on the river. You bastard. At least when you finally got a hand, you could milk it, but there was no opportunity to really steal a pot. I'd like to try a no limit table next time--bring a little more excitement to it.

Welcome to playing with fake money. No disincentive to calling a bluff...
I laughed out loud at the one hand with 4 in at the end where nobody had even a pair!!

we aren't allowed to create a NL table (or I would have), but we could horn in one by one on an already created NL table until it becomes our own...
[and, I also got AA once - didn't hold up either.]

Fuck it. Let's play for real cash. Or imaginary strip poker.

What do you know...
Say or snicker what you want, but Ben Affleck must be a pretty good player--he just won a tournament at the Commerce Casino, and LA is full of tough players. Pretty impressive.

Concur. There are a lot of pros at the tables at Commerce. I've heard that Annie Duke (widely regarded as the top female poker player) has been hanging out with Ben Affleck a lot recently.

Actually, I think he's been taking lessons from her (Annie D.), and it appears that he's learning.
