You have to admit he was pretty good in Malcolm X, plus that one where he rescued all of those Rwandans from that hotel -- I forget the name.

I think that was Mac from Night Court.
ETA: Harry Anderson's wiki page says: "Occupation: Actor, Magician"

Last name. 37th most popular, in fact, in China.

I agree with you on Will Smith -- he's very good, and tends to be underrated because of the kind of movies he's often in, but Six Degrees of Separation is enough to convince any sane person of his talent.
But let's not get carried away, as you did with the quoted statement.

Is there any response to this that would not be a whiff?

i read an interview with him once where he explained his mode of selecting roles.
basically he knew he couldn't tell anything from the script so if he could do it temporally (and this was 20 years ago when he was working) he took it. he knew that meant being involving in lots of bad work, but also increased his chance to hit one good every so often.
I think penske read the same interview.

Right. And Flower is more of a Woody Allen type figure.

As usual I am the anti-Penske. I always wear socks. Wool socks. My feet are almost always cold; even in the summer. I think I keep the SmartWool people in business.

I like his "fluff" movies. MIB was funny; Hitch was cute & sweet. Independence Day.
The only movie I've seen him in that didn't work was Wild Wild West and I don't think that was his fault.

So, Lone Starr, now you see that evil will always triumph, because good is dumb.
