She was the perfect little sister.

No offense, and you know that I love you like that cousin who stayed with us in high school until my mother kicked him out for selling pot to middle schoolers (speaking of which, mom says she still has some of your mail, books, and the fake autographed picture of General Custer that you left in the spare room), but you are not good enough to be juggled in some sort of dysfunctional Trio of Luuuuuuv with another dude/dudette by my imaginary little sister.
In other news, trial prep sucks. Almost as much as losing a big case. Not that I would know.

It's not often easy and not often kind.

Based upon my vast experience in Matters Of The Heart, I can tell you that there are no easy answers to these questions. But I'm pretty sure that one of the two people will seem more worth your time soon enough.

I saw a movie in a hotel room once about a woman who did this. It looked, uh, fulfilling.

Re: Stuck on Repeats
So on Friday, my car won't start. The building was about to shut down and I had to meet Mrs. Finch for a play, so I left the car at my office. Came in on Sunday morning to call AAA, and they were able to get it running without towing it.
Sunday was the day of the Gay Pride parade in SF, which starts a couple of blocks from my office. I pull out of the parking lot, and there is lots of foot and car traffic. As I pull out of the lot, a bus pulls up right behind me.
It was the Girls Gone Wild bus. Heading for the Gay Pride parade. This, I did not expect to see.

When you pulled over and parked to follow the bus on foot, was the cost of street parking worth it?

Either very carefully or out in the open. For you I would recommend out in the open. If you find that you're scared to lose one of these dudes, you shouldn't be dating two guys anyway. And you just figured out which one you want. If you're not scared to lose one, just tell them both that you got out of a serious relationship and aren't looking for another one, but would like to hang out from time to time.

This was a good answer. It was a little light on LeBron or officiating, but good nonetheless.

No, until I saw ncs.
Am I the only one who noticed that she said she's "dating two people," not "two men"?

I've known people who have done it, and from what I can gather, honesty and openness seem to be critical in making it work. Feelings can get hurt, and it can be critical to check in from time to time to make sure that everyone is on the same page and that everyone sticks to the ground rules. That said, there are a lot of people who can't get everything they want out of just one person, and branching out seems to work. Where it doesn't work, from what I've seen, is when one party says "nope, monogamy isn't for me." and the other goes along with it because that's the only way to keep a hold of their partner. Graham and I talk about it from time to time (usually when watching a trainwreck) and are pretty clear that it won't ever work for us.
If it's still up, the old bitchphd blog had a lot of discussion about it, since she had a boyfriend in Chicago and her husband was whereever she is in California. If I recall, she'd go up to visit her boyfriend every now and then. It seemed to work for her.
ETA: It is up (it closed down a few years ago, so there hasn't been active posting for awhile *sniff*): http://bitchphd.blogspot.com/2006/04...boyfriend.html There are probably some other posts about it too, but that (and the comments) might be a good start.

I tend to agree. The only time I've ever successfully dated more than one person, it's always been because none of the people I was dating was anyone worth getting serious about.
Which isn't to say that dating more than one person at any given time can't be a stupid amount of fun.

No. A few posts ago, I noted it as I was mocking the guy whose brother has cancer, so I got that going for me, karmically and all.
Though making a leeringly salacious comment re Sappho in reply to my imaginary little sister's question may have been worse than what I did. Who can tell these days?
ETA To be clear, I was talking about my potential response to ncs, not anything said by Sidd. Carry on.

Really? Was it the dating part or the having sex part that made you feel manly--or does it have to be a combination of the two? Cause when you were having sex with two woman at the same time, but not dating, the amount of money you had to pay for it emasculated you or something? Just wondering

Excuse me, but "proactive" and "paradigm"? Aren't these just buzzwords that dumb people use to sound important? Not that I'm accusing you of anything like that.
