I was holding two different conversations. The primary one was with people who make sense. We discussed the reason for the rule and its flaws. I stated that it makes no sense to have the rule for short passes. Burger agreed when it came to the penalty box. We all moved on and continued to talk about how it might best be changed.

The secondary conversation was with you. I found almost everything you said to be completely unconvincing. I thought your analogies were stupid. And I still think you don't know shit, but pick and choose from other people's posts to make it sound like you have a clue. The first three posts you link to relate to my disrespect for your arguments. I don't know why you included that last link as it does not bolster your argument, but maybe you thought you would seem more convincing the more links you included. I don't know.

 | Wouldn't there be less room? Between this line* and the end line on each side of the field, there are no offsides. If the passer is in the middle 2/3s of the field (no matter where the receiver is) and makes an offsides pass, make the call. Hell, they're already fucking up offsides calls all the time now. If you change the rule, they only fuck it up on the middle 2/3s (or whatever) of the field.

Who knows if it would work? But the current rule makes soccer very frustrating to watch sometimes.

 | I can't say whether the game would be better or worse without the rule, or with a modified rule, but the constant breaks in the action due to offsides calls definitely detract from the game.

For some reason, I have the sense that some of you have been there. If so, I have a very basic question. How did you get there?
I'm looking at it as a potential winter vacation spot (involving visiting someone in Asia), and my so far very preliminary looks at how to get there don't look very pleasant.

Number of U.S. Breweries at an all-time high

What are the odds that this comment was posted by Flower:

"Ah, yes, there's nothing like the quality of small-batch American beer. Hops rolled in hops, blended with some light hops to bring out the hops, then accented with some heavier hops and medium-bodied hops to evoke a true hoppy blend of hops. With some hops added just to create a final hoppiness on the end that can only be attributed to hops."

*1/3 of field away from the end line
 | Apologies if someone said this already:

As it is now, you can't be offside on your own side of the field. So your change would basically just push this line another sixth of the way up the field. My hunch is that the offsides calls that matter are in the final third, so I'm not sure it would make that much difference.

As an alternative, maybe call offsides only on balls played across the midfield line? That would keep teams from dumping long balls from their own end, would force defenses to pressure to midfield a little more than they do, and would create room behind defenses. Not sure I like the idea, but there it is.

 | I was there in May and I connected through Hong Kong (because that's where we went first). But I know you can also connect through Singapore or Bangkok. All the regional airlines over there that actually get you to Phuket are very good--clean and efficient. Thai Airways was nice. As is SilkAir (which is really just Singapore Airlines' local).

PM me if you're still talking to me and want more info. I haven't banged the table in at least 7 minutes.
