 | I think that's less of a phase and more of a default setting for you.

On a professional yet related note, let me just advise the rest of the FB to not have sex with 14-year olds, no matter how hot you think they are, and no matter how much they beg for it.

Especially on the internet.

And especially if they tell you they're 14.

				Helicopter parents

I've had to deal with parents getting all mixed up in their adult children's educations, but fortunately, none were so moved to write in the National Review * about it. Poor kid.

One of my sisters went to Stanford and lived three out of the four years in a co-op. She loved it there. The ONLY downside is that my parents thought she was a lesbian for a few years**, because the co-op in question was the LGBT house . Lord help that poor girl in the article above if her parents had caught her at Terra House.

*Note: link goes to the daughter's response in a NYT blog post about the NR article.

**Turns out not a lesbian.

**Turns out not a lesbian. | This was my favorite: "the university had not given parents a head’s up [regarding gender neutral housing]".

The university doesn't send grades home, either. Or bills (or, at least, didn't--doubt it's changed). How ridiculous that a university treat adults as adults.

eta: Okay, new favorite: "which I began to describe as “co-ed within the room.”" Wow. She caught up to campus slang from when she was in college. Amazing.

 | I had about 5 different responses to this, all attempts at humor.

Too many of them, however, could be interpreted the wrong way. Thanks for chilling my funny!

 | You're not really an "adult" if your parents are footing the bill for your school. But I don't think writing an article in the National Review is the best forum for a family discussion. |

A meaningful contribution sure, but they weren't paying everything.

And, yes, adult, regardless of funding source. Strings attached to the $$, sure, I have no issue with that. As I noted, Stanford doesn't send the bill home to mom and dad.

 | Apparently it wasn't allowed at Yale in the late-70s. Or at HLS.

I wonder how mom would feel if she roomed with (gasp) ... lesbians.

Although maybe that cuts the other way . . .
