 | not really. To my recollection they've mostly tried to hide it behind rape and incest exceptions since at least HW Bush.

This time around they seem to be pushing back on even those. |

 | Actually, there was a substantial amount of discusssion and negotiation that went into this particular plank of the Republican Party's platform. This is a fundamental difference for the party. It may or may not be for Republican candidates other than Romney, whose opinion on the subject depends entirely who is listening.

Reagan v. Mondale II (Or Clinton v. Dole II)

Let me be the first to state it emphatically here. Obama carries FL, VA, OH, WI. Spanking. Nate Silver gets Chuck Todd's job when it's over.

Eta: but closer than 2008. |

On the Senate, I'm very hopeful that Tester hangs on and Kerrey upsets in Nebraska; we'll see if the Tea Party gives the dems Missouri and Indiana, too, that would be my definition of a great night. There is particular joy to me in winning because of a reaction against the TP lunatics - I know those will be conservative Dems, but it's also the best opportunity for the Rs to start working on cleaning up their own messes.

Speaking of not cleaning up their own messes, the Rs are likely to pick up a congressional seat in Massachusetts, thanks to the Dems choosing to let an incumbent crook run again.

There is little worse that reelecting a crook just because he's from your party. |

100 percent of the people polled in my office did NOT receive an "I voted" sticker this morning.

This being Los Angeles, I was invited to vote on local initiative B, which would require porn actors to wear condoms during filming. (Well, the male ones.) I love this stupid-ass town. |

Obama's team brilliantly killed him (or he committed suicide) with his "Let GM go bankrupt" editorial. Ohio is filled with businesses dependent on the auto industry, and the average American voter doesn't understand that Obama, as Romney would have, also took GM through a bankruptcy of sorts... The only difference being Obama fucked bondholders and gifted the company to his union benefactors.

All Joe Sixpack in Ackron hears is, "bankrupt," and he knows that's bad, and that's as far as his analysis take him. Romney bad; Obama good.

Why Mitt penned that editorial I will never know. Dumbest political move in history.
