I don't think it's going to do much, but I admire him for actually filibustering instead of lobbing threats to do so.
ETA fix the word "lobbing". He was talking about lobbyists at the time.
ETA2: I read that the last actual filibuster was in 1992. All the others were threats. Huh.

No offence, but 8 hours and 37 minutes? W-U-S-S-Y.

2. Also bad for Obama is having Clinton appear at White House press briefings. At this point I may write-in his name in 2012.

I had the same thought. He was smart to get off the stage before the comparison made him look even smaller.

Businesses care only about reducing costs, not increasing revenues? If the customers keep their money, that's not considered part of your losses?
Interesting. I can see why you've been such a resounding success in business.

Wait and see
So I read about half of the VA court decision striking down the individual mandates, but in doing so was reminded that the jurisprudential limit on the scope of the commerce clause is "whatever 5 of the sitting 9 think," and decided to wait for a decision that actually matters.

Henry E. Hudson, the federal judge in Virginia who just ruled health care reform unconstitutional, owns between $15,000 and $50,000 in a GOP political consulting firm that worked against health care reform. You don't say!

Why would any federal judge continue to own a stake in a political consulting firm? The appearance seems fundamentally unavoidable.

"the right to get rich is in the constitution"
Gang of Four
Life! It's a Shame.
(p.s.) I invented telling you that bit was unconstitutional.

Rough Weekend for Bernie?
Andrew Sullivan cites a WaPo poll:
Quote:
A slender 11 percent of those polled back all four of the deal's primary tax provisions: an across-the-board extension of Bush-era tax cuts, additional jobless benefits, a payroll tax holiday and a $5 million threshold for inheritance taxes. Just 38 percent support even two of the components.
But put all four items together, and 69 percent of all Americans support the package ... In the poll, 69 percent of liberal Democrats support the agreement, which Obama has called a framework for legislation.
