Widely used term. Origin is generally b/c underwear is made of cotton and therefore not good to wear in damp jungle environments (fatigue pants dry quickly and cotton underwear would stay wet, giving you crotch-rot), so commando-types who were in jungle situations wore no underwear.

Really? In my mind, I was actually arguing for the opposite. People should do what they want in relationships, but try to be honest about what they want and why they want it. If they can't be honest about the ways that they feel and the reasons they do things (to some extent; a little "that's just how I feel is fine now and then"), they should be in therapy about that shit. And if they're languishing on for years with someone who's not making them happy, they should move on. I certainly have.

Maybe that's "sensitive," maybe it's being a pansy-ass, whatever. I just think it's a lot more productive, a lot healthier and a lot more likely to lead to happiness that keeping that shit inside and letting it fester. That's what can lead to crazy breakups, passport burning, cheating, divorces, domestic violence, etc.

What is a different term for it? Underpants-free? I can't think of a "sexy" term for this.
Friends? Didn't Joey go commando with all of Chandler's clothes on?

Free-balling? Not so good for the ladies though.

Accepting shots of Tullamore Dew from the bartender at Rocky's is NOT "robot insurance."

I bought that bill of goods, and wouldn't you know, big fuckin' robots with accents carved from the rocks of Belfast appeared and chased me around lower Manhattan until 4am.

I probably agree with most of this, BUT I saw something in mmmmmmmmm's post that suggested that after explaining why you're breaking up with the guy (which I agree with) you should be giving some room for corrective action. In my experience, that doesn't work. If someone wants to break up, their mind is usually pretty made up on the matter, and I think that leaving false hope that things could get better is worse than breaking someone's heart.
Like if the problem is, for example, I'm not attracted to you and the thought of ever having sex with you again really sketches me out. Hard to fix that with counseling, I say. Also hard to say during the heart-to-heart airing of grievances. Usually is couched in terms of "feelings have changed" and "it's not you, it's me".

That's all fine and good in a lot of things, and I've been meaning to read that book, but I have hated being involved personally, romantically and professionally with people who always "know it when they see it," "just feel that way" and "can't justify their feelings." In my (admittedly biased) mind, that's how a four year old acts. Adults explain why they feel a certain way and can talk about it coherently.
I somehow just knew that after Retief Goosen let his 3 stroke lead slip away yesterday, that he would come charging back and have a great final 14 holes.

Thankfully I didn't put any money on it.

Let's give it up to the Krazy Kiwi, Michael Campbell. Our Golfer of the Year.

Damn. I think I said that at some point during the airing of grievances. Must be in the break-up manual.
