The package of channels that Comcast gives me includes an HD channel of music videos. It's unique in that, unlike other channels for music videos, it plays music videos. So I've started Tivoing three-hour blocks of videos. Ninety percent is crap, but that's what the FFWD button is for. The other thing that's unique about this channel is that it mixes musical styles in the same block, and about 20% of the videos are country music. Now, I hate country music. However, FFWDing through all the country music videos I have come to notice the following:
- Male country music stars are permitted to be substantially uglier than their counterparts in other music genres.
- Female country music stars are universally substantially hotter than their counterparts in other music genres.
This does not make it more likely that I will listen to them, but in a three hour block of music, of the five hottest women on screen, four of them will be country recording artists.
