You think maybe he cut off his leg to make weight?
Your last line suggests a level of animus (or maybe just snarkiness) that isn't really warranted.

Wrestling and MMA have different rules. I had no problem with Maynard wrestling, which I read about some time ago. I was pretty much in awe of his tenacity and talent. And plainly he had incredible strength for his weight, partly because the lower half of the arms and legs are relatively weak, non-muscular parts of the body. (Except on Hank, who is 6'9" and covered with muscle everywhere.)

But I don't think that his disability, combined with the rules of wrestling, meant that entire categories of technique could not be used by his opponents. I also don't think that his disability, combined with the rules of wrestling, meant that something refs often do to get the action going -- stand fighters up -- could not actually be done in a fight where he was competing.

I realize that my views of MMA rules and how the relate to Maynard does not account for your personal high school wrestling experiences.
