Well, the venues on Washington Avenue were the types of places you go specifically to hear someone play as opposed to going to the bar and someone happens to be playing that night.
My boyfriend is like you though. He refuses to listen to or seek out local bands on the basis that they're generally crappy. I chalk this up to his working in the music business for 15 or so years, 8 of them in e/o's live music town. He has to listen to crappy live music for work all the time. He'd rather not do it for fun.
