I agree with pretty much everything you said. But that last part, I'm not sure.

Industry may be a temporary antidote to despair. But it's not a cure. (Is "temporary antidote" redundant?) My father worked 7 days a week, usually 10 hours a day or more. At work, he was happy, jolly almost -- it was eye-opening, in a scary way, for me to go to the hospitals where he worked and see the way the nurses and other doctors treated him, like he was this happy, wonderful guy. And at home, he was a nightmare -- would get mad, often violently, at the drop of a hat. Was sullen. Could never have a conversation with his kids, or even really with my mom, about anything.

Once he retired, he was bored and miserable. The nastiness just took over. If it weren't for the onset of a little senility, which really helped take the edge off him, who knows what would've happened.

So, yeah -- industry, or "keeping busy," may put off despair. But I'm not sure that's a path to happiness.

I thought he effectively dumped her, just for awhile, but it was his decision.

Screw the depression talk. Cool goal, especially for a 9 year old.

DEXTER QUESTION-

spoiler

My wife feels his victims this year aren't bad enough to get him going. The guy who got out because of Dexter being tired just killed one, and this week's cop was done killing, not a serial killer at all.

I remember a teen from season 1 who wasn't so bad but got it. Other than that they victims do seem to have done more kills before they hit his radar. Has he overfished his pond, and needs to take smaller ones now?

2. Depression bores me. Go to therapy. get medication. self medicate. cut. go pee your diapers. just do what it takes.

Post-Mortems Are Death, Onto the Dating Talk

Seriously, you try distilling down the complicated end of a complicated year-long relationship down into a series of FB posts . . . sheesh. And we still have to deal with each other since we are working on a philanthropic thing together, we work out together, and I am working with him on something for his business.

I would much rather talk about my new thing with the Chimney Sweep. I am trying to figure out how to integrate a new man into my life, while being really anxious about doing something wrong. I hate dating.

Then we also have the tech guru who is still wooing me, despite the fact we went out on a shitty first date before I started dating the artist formerly known as the luckiest man alive. I am his stand-in date for certain things and he's great, but he's trying too hard right now.

My dance card is full and I am seeing the artist formerly known as the luckiest man alive for dinner on Thursday, so we can fight in person. Yay.

That is the downside of having the freedom that comes with wealth. You can obsess over whether you're truly happy, and for a lot of us, we're just not and no amount of tutoring inner city kids will fix him.

That's what his therapist is for . . . and clearly she's doing a bang-up job.
Isn't the next step to get Saved By Jesus?

*And after STPing, this sentence only applies to me.
But I specifically want Alton and the Mythbusters gang because I think they'd have good chemistry.

Sorry, got no poetry for a tech guru.

Chimney Sweep, however, has possibilities.

But, so, the crush is no more? Damn, I didn't mean to screw up so quickly. Hank, you got one of those sad smilies?

when I went out of my to rectruit you to come back here, I visualized many benefits. however, even I did not anticipate the weight loss benefits that would flow from my being made to vomit repeatedly on any given day.
