So what you're saying is that before you take your date home, you'd go to Burger King first?

Ummm, I know your kung-fu is probably pretty good, but I learned that life would present situations I might not be able to control physically [ed. - a split infinitive would work much better right there, IMHO] in preschool. And in fifth grade gym class, and pretty much throughout my adolescence, come to think of it . . .

Ahem. Of course, now I am a big mean-looking badass and nobody fucks with me. So just forget what I said about fifth grade, ok? Just forget it. I mean it. Stop fucking laughing.

Heart rate monitor redux

My puppy was caught chewing the transmitter of my heart rate monitor this morning, and testing has proven that it's now destroyed. Does anyone know if you can just get the transmitter part, and if so, where?

Right. I'm sure if he* was on "Best Sports Show Period" with one of the queer eye guys he wouldn't be bugged, and could sit and joke. What bugged him was that someone who effectively had the same armor against being faggy that he has, turns out was a fag. That and worrying if other guys were checking him out in the shower, now that he knows there is a decent chance another fag or two is in the locker room.

*of course all these go with the caveat of a generalized jock, i personally do not know the man.

There's something about your theory that sounds like a high school physics exam. "A magnet is presented with the same magnetic force, and is repelled, not attracted. Measure its force and velocity." Nice that homophobia can be explained in such a pocket guide.

And BTW, as I recall, Atticus' theory had two components, one of which (to me) sounds similar to the drum you're flogging to such a dramatic crescendo (though I think he managed to avoid using any concepts of polarity). If this presents a conceptual roadblock to screaming at your opponent here, feel free to continue ignoring it.

I don't think that's what he is saying. I think he's saying we're not cognizant of it all the time because we've learned to deal with it and it's in our subconscious, but we can bring those tools forth from our subconscious if we need to. I don't know whether I agree with him, but I think that's what he's saying - at least that is how I read his response to my post.

I think if he was saying that TO feels like a woman, then TO would know how to deal with the situation. I think what Atticus is saying is that TO is not like a woman because he hasn't picked up the tools to deal with sexual fear during his life.

Correct me if I am wrong, Atticus.

I think its a probably combination of gross-out, fear and ignorance myself that makes someone homophobic.

Just a request here. The term "fag" or "faggot" bugs me. Please consider not using it. Its etymology is not pretty.

That's more than I ever got from you. Not counting the euphemism that was taken care of at the clinic.

I found it was the floppy bow tie and wide-brimmed boater hat that set them off most often. Oh dear! How dreadful!
