NYT readers not misinformed

I didn't really get what you all meant back when you explained about how if I watch FoxNews I'd end up misinformed, but then this morning I finally started getting it.
See like Fox would just say- "It looks like the Rather memos are fakes." But the NYT helps the reader understand what to do with the information they're fakes:

Hurray for the PAPER OF RECORD!

Let's try here...."Ty, never said "quagmire" in a post, but saying he did is accurate."

or like this "Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury, we have no evidence of what happened, but if we did, I bet it would look like Exhibit 1."
