Since you didnt tell me not to tell you, peanuts do contain a toxin in a very small amount that can add up if enough peanuts are eaten.
As for spinach, I don't know why the macrobiotic people won't eat it but otherwise I imagine its safe.
I fear that I will never be able to eat black beans again without the word bloated going through my head.
