Is that why Wonk "use[s] a little too much force"?

I thought it was a Star Wars reference.

Well, that's one more than sebby likes.

In other news, "War of the Worlds" was a fine summer movie. The Not Bobette and I saw it the other day when Mrs. Not Bob was hooking up with Bi. . .uh, visiting a friend who just had a baby. Two thumbs up.

Any Yankees or Red Sox fans in Houston?

Mike Vaccaro from the New York Post who wrote Emperors and Idiots: The Hundred Year Rivalry Between the Yankees and the Red Sox from the Very Beginning to the End of the Curse will be speaking at the Museum on Sunday at 2:00.

The Red Sox movie is screening at 7:00 that same day.

Can you tell that the museum marketing person is desperate when she asks me to post this stuff? I could give a shit about baseball, especially the Yankees or the Red Sox.

Bonus if you go: You could ask the museum marketing person to pee on you. Past experience suggests that she'll say no, though. But you'll get an amusing anecdote.

ETA: She says she'll give you all free tickets to the museum if you get people to come. Plus the pee guy story.

Help, And Why I Love Wes Anderson

I watched The Life Aquatic last night. Its Wes Anderson's most disjointed movie yet. Rambling and pointless, but nevertheless funny and engaging. The guy creates such a great counter-reality. But by far, the greatest thing about the flick is his use of those old Bowie tunes. I forgot what awesome songs Queen Bitch and Life on Mars were. I bought all the old Bowie shit on Itunes last night and can't stop listening to it. So unbelieveable. How does he get eclipsed by people like Elton John? Bowie could outwrite Elton and Bernie Taupin any day of the week. And he can sing better than 90% of rock stars.
My favorite old Bowie is Boys Keep Swinging . Did you get that one?

No Spoilers here but I have been way behind on my tivo (Hi Slave!) and ended up watching the last three episodes pretty much back to back. I just noticed something. The people who die at the beginning always appear to be about ten years older than their expiration dates indicate. Is this to indicate that they look like they are near the end, or do the producers not do a good job with casting? Ditto with George. Doesnt that dude appear to be at least mid sixties when his character is probalby fifty five?

SLIGHT SPOILER Actually

Oh, and RP, did you think of me when Nate said that Lisa "maybe trapped him into marriage"?

Isn't George supposed to be 70 or so?

Sorry, I haven't been watching. The show sucks now. It has nothing to offer to counteract its depressingness.

I agree with you, and sexual chemistry is something that you either have or you don't so you can make quick decisions like I did with the ex Mr. Kiss. But plenty of people (I forget who on this board now?) would say sexual chemistry dissipates and it is the day to day seeing eye to eye on the business end of marriage that counts. In my experience, both count, but I am firmly in the camp of no sexual chemistry = no entry.

Not in the short run. But in the long run. I am sure there are one or two exceptions though.

Question:
Did anyone on this board save themself for marriage? I have no idea how anyone could possibly get married without having had sex with the other person first.

I know one person who converted to Catholicism shortly before getting married and did the re-virgin thing after they went through the marriage classes. I thought that was ridiculous, but at least they'd had sex before she got crazy with God and the engagement wasn't that long.

I know one other person who confessed to having had sex for the first time with her husband in the limo from the ceremony to the reception.
