Why does anyone (other than brokers who miraculously end up with bunches of excellent tickets to every show) ever do this for a side business? I spent about half of my day e-mailing with people of various levels of flakatude, and then had to go meet the lucky winner with the tickets outside of my building. 2 hours of billable time lost.

Why, str8, why? How much mark-up do you need to have to make this a worthwhile use of your time?
eBay's somewhat easier, in the sense that I don't have to move my ass from my desk. But they charge fees.

I no longer buy tickets unless I expect to make upwards of $40/ticket on them. For that amount of money, I'll deal with the flakes. I don't find it that big of an inconvenience to walk outside for a few minutes and meet someone. As I'm often leaning into car windows and coming out with cash, the security guards think I'm a drug dealer.

When I was just starting out, I was trying to arbitrage White Stripes tickets for about $10 profit each, and running around meeting people all over the city. Granted I needed the money, but it probably wasn't worth it.
