You can't "screw anything up" in arguing a motion by making what you perceive to be a wardrobe gaffe. You can charm a judge who’s likes your case but thinks you’re a dick or is wary of some fine points. You can endear yourself to a judge and slowly create a winning argument. But you can’t make a judge who isn’t interested interested. If she’s not curious about your argument from the get go, cut bait.
