Camouflage is, I believe, the stuff that is supposed to camouflage you (ie., battle dress, in most cases). I've never heard regular and formal uniforms called camouflage. Civvies are also permitted when not on duty (at least outiside battle zones, about which I have no idea).

I'm sure you are correct, but I don't think Burger was disputing that. His prose left a bit to be desired, but he was just saying that there are 3 options as to type of dress and camo is one of them. I wouldn't buy his book, if this is indicitive of his writing style, but I don't think he meant that camo could be formal dress.

I could have said whiff or something, but I think Burger contributed, so I won't. I had to re-read his opening line 3 times.

Welcome aboard, newber! As I'm sure you will soon see, this place is much like a cocktail party, albeit a cocktail party that lasts several years with exactly the same guests (most of whom are turn-your-face-away-in-horror drunk) and exactly the same conversations (which comfortingly occur in a prescribed order).
