Anyone know how breast cancer of the ducts rates, severity-wise? Any better or worse depending on whether it's a recurrence?

Stats can't answer that question. The best query is to iquire as to the specifics of the tumor (size, how fast cells are replicating, evidence of metasteses, etc...).
People are full of all sorts of goofy knowledge on this issue, and much of it isn't very helpful. Steven Jay Gould wrote a great paper on why math can never really predict in re disease. I think its called "The Mean is Not the Message."
Another good one to look into is this cat Nassim Taleb's book "Fooled by Randomness." You will never give stats any credibility again if you read that.
Best wishes to whomever your post describes (hopfefully its a hypthetical).*
* Which would make you one strange chick. Considering yesterday, isn't there something sunnier to discuss?
