My understanding is that other people with newer Samsung's didn't have the same problem, so they must have fixed it. You'll know the first time you try to text if it hasn't been fixed. If not, ditch that thing. Take my word for it.
I feel like I ask a lot of questions.

Thanks for the tip! I may try it out on you.

Okay, maybe too late for human travel, but I predict shorter delivery times for Papa John's real soon.

Yes, the texting is fine on the newer models. It's the volume that is a problem. I've never said "Pardon?" "What?" "What was that?" so much in my life. I guess it's good preparation for when I'm wheelchair-bound at the nursing home.

Dude, now you can "text 1 on your Verizon V-Cast phone to vote for prissy lead singer x" on the next season of Rockstar:HasBeen.

You should take it back to where you purchased, it could be defective. The husband has a newer Samsung and the volume is better than the Razr in a side by side comparison. In fact, it's so loud that I can hear his conversation when he's on the phone with someone else. Makes it hard for him to have a "confidential" phone call. But then, I have dolphin-like hearing.

Seriously, if it's less than a year old, have it checked.

I can attest that it is. I bought my younger son some spiffy new running shoes today (super speedy, of course) and when we got back to our apartment building, he wouldn't let us go upstairs, because he wanted to challenge me to a race.

So, I went to the end of the block and we had a race. Unhappily for me, after I agreed to the challenge, I remembered that I'm not wearing a bra today.

Ow.

wow! combine that with nosy and too absorbed in other people's business. I bet you just swivel your ears from neighboring table to table when at restaurants?

I assume that he was wearing appropriate underwear.

A tip on taking your phone into Verizon to have it checked: buy a new battery before you do. The warranty on your Verizon phone is voided if the battery has been exposed to water (unless you have purchased insurance). The first thing the Verizon people do when you hand the phone to them is open it up and look at the water indicator on the battery. I spent several hours waiting in line at Verizon recently, and I didn't see a single person's battery inspected that had not been exposed to water.

You're not supposed to swim with it.

The idiots at Verizon sold me a battery ($30!) that did not allow the rear panel to close completely. It's about a millimeter thicker than the original. Then he told me that it would be OK to let the back stay a little open. Then I showed him how easily the back just pops off. So I got a refund and bought a generic battery at BestBuy for $3 because it was discontinued. But that battery has about as much juice as the dying one. I guess I'll just have to buy a new phone.

In partial fairness, I did get caught in a downpour once soon after I got here. Still, if exposing the battery to water is so harmful, why don't they make the battery compartment water-fucking-tight?

To void the warranty. Duh.

In partial fairness, it was probably the battery's exposure to water that caused the little thingy where the power cord plugs in to fall out.
