Excellent call on Nobody's Fool -- a great book turned into a great movie. And I don't just say this because Paigow (sniff) said that I reminded her of Sully.

Your list looks good to me. Maybe I'd add Butch Cassidy (one of my favorite movies, period) to the list. But which would I drop? I loved them all -- guess it would be Cool Hand Luke taking the fall.

I'd drop The Verdict, on general principle that law movies are bad (My Cousin Vinny being the sole exception).

I'd have to add Sweet Bird of Youth and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof - the Tennessee Williams/Paul Newman duo.

I haven't seen Nobody's Fool, so I'd have to drop that one. Probably also the Sting, though there are no easy calls.

The Newman/Faulkner combo in Long, Hot Summer is also pretty mind blowing.

i actually would put BC ahead of the sting, good work not bob. BUT the verdict is not a movie about a lawyer, it's a movie about a guy who wakes up on the floor next to a urinal, isn't that an exception?

Sully is actually my father with a bit less responsibility.

I'm willing to grant a general exception to my "lawyer movies suck" rule for all movies filmed in black-and-white. Twelve Angry Men, To Kill A Mockingbird (to the extent that can be called a lawyer movie), and probably a few others.

If you compare Twelve Angry Men to the PB, then you've apparently forgotten the movie. When was the last time anyone on the PB convinced anyone, let alone everyone, to change their mind and agree on something?

Cool Hand Luke is the top 1 Paul Newman film. We watched it in Christian Scripture class in high school. The only problem with this movie is that it made Cuckoo's Nest totally redundant, culture-wise.

I'm not dropping anything, but I'd add Cat on a Hot Tin Roof to any Paul Newman must view lists.

good point. it's weird, the RNC knows to pander to the religious, but Hollywood doesn't know to put an unchallengable Jesus figure in every movie? butts in seats equal dollars, it don't matter if they are wearing crosses.

I'd add Butch Cassidy and lose the Sting.

Upon further reflection, maybe "worried" is the wrong word for that sentence.
