body question
an IT guy just fixed my Outlook. He was in my chair for, like a minute and a half, tops.
But the seat is noticably warm now. do some people lose more heat from their ass than others? I fear he is ill.

Taco Bell for lunch is better than heated car seats.

that would explain a local hot spot. this is generalized heated seat.

This little tidbit tells us that Hank has decided to forego the Aeron chair look, opting instead for the leathered upholstery which goes better with mahogany paneling.
Unfortunately, this choice of opulent luxury carries risks, including when the IT staff serve as extras on the set of 28 Days Later.

Baseball Question
It is illegal in baseball to scuff or otherwise alter the shape/surface of the ball because it may allow the pitcher to get crazy movement when using the modifed ball.
That being the case, why are pitchers and catchers always in such a damn hurry to have balls that have been hit, foul tipped, or slammed into the dirt taken out of play? Couldn't these damaged balls be used to the pitchers advantage?

Not all of them are. Many junkballers try to keep them in play. The umpires try to get them out of play. Sometimes it's easier just to give the ump the ball than to try to keep it in play.
Also, baseball is a sport full of superstition. If the ball was hit hard, most pitchers don't want to use that ball again.

Full Health Insurance Coverage
I am enjoying full health insurance agains for the first time in over 2.5 years (I carried a catastrophic-only policy for that time) because my part-time employers wanted me full-time during this likely 9-month travel lull. I had the dental work-up this morning (medical is on Thursday, vision on Friday) and was reassured that the economic downturn has not hit the dental industry because he found I needed no additional work. Carry on.

I don't think that's true. I think most pitchers would love to use any ball that has been scuffed up badly. It gives any pitch, even a fastball, movement.

I think the rule is that they have to replace them and they try to stay on the umps' good side by volunteering. At least some umps actually inspect the balls before throwing them away. I've seen them put them back in their pocket to be thrown in after the next ball is lost.
My question is, how come they replace the ball if it hits the ground before the catcher catches it or is foul tipped at the plate, but they keep a ball hit in play in the rotation? There has to be more damage done, especially on those high choppers. I've seen balls stay in play that are screaming line drives, caught on a short hop in the dirt at third, thrown across the field and short-hopped by the first baseman as well. Makes no sense.

precision fastballers only want movement when they (and the catcher) expect it though, don't they? it's also possible a scuff could slow the pitch down a little maybe?

I don't think they're in a hurry. They know the umpire is going to take the ball out of use -- in the catcher's case, they may be talking about it with each other.

A truly awesome football week
Texans win in an amazing two minute drill that results in a touchdown.
Patriots lose on national television, schadenfreude (bonus: I won my fantasy football matchup, because Randy Moss had a shitty, shitty game).
Tony Romo breaks a finger, out for four weeks, making every Dallas hater (including especially me) elated.
and now,
Pacman Jones is suspended indefinitely, causing Dallas further pain.
The football gods love me right now.

The Romo injury might not be such a bad thing. The offense will be more disciplined. Plus they just added Roy Williams to the receiving corps.
But maybe this will keep you on that football high: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8HE9OQ4FnkQ (A literal interpretation of Aha's Take on Me.)
