If the horse has a bloodline, it won't be gelded, but if it's not a horse with a proven bloodline, unless it looks like it will be the next Seattle Slew, the potential stud fees won't be as big as the purses the unknown might win.

My horse's sire is still a stallion, and still firing up the stones for a fee.  My horse, though (sadly, for him, I guess) is a gelding.  Neither is a racer, however. |
