The 2005 Penske was a terrible vintage. Brash, tannic, and unbalanced with a top note of ordure. Not much of a finish, either.
The 2008 Penske, while not subtle, is a much more restrained effort. I credit the terroir, increased sunlight, and a judicious pruning of old vines.
It's almost as if someone has his nuts in a vise.
