What sort of cakes do you think she'd go for?
The friends whose wedding I officiated a few years ago were a mixed marriage. She's half-black, half-white, and he's white. Their cake was a layer cake with different frostings in different hues of chocolate and vanilla. Each layer was a different kind of cake, too.
Someone who knew I was a dog lover sent me a link to this bridal shower cake in New York. I thought it was quite clever.

Have we done cakewrecks here?
I especially like the "corn" theme and the dissociated bride and groom. To say nothing of the "that time of the month" cake on top. |

I can't believe I'm saying this, but...women like to take home real floral centerpieces on the tables as souvenirs. At least that's what happened at my wedding, and most of the weddings I've been to. They also seem to like having a piece of the cake actually cut by the bride and groom. (Men generally couldn't care less. Sheet cake from the kitchen all the way, baby.)
Personally, I like the idea, but family relatives on the distaff side might be disappointed.
Now for the smart-ass comment: not enough flowers.
